Show and Tell Treasures from the VB Jumble .....

Treasures, Truffling and Treats!

So what did I purchase on Saturday in Frome at the annual VB Jumble, well there was so much to choose from and also it felt like I had not been treasure hunting for ages and that is probably the case really as we have been house hunting and to a lovely wedding as well .. so this was a much needed and great escape that just so happened to be surrounded by lots of goodies to tempt... I had a little list but in my head that got larger every next stall I visited!

Unusually for me I did not buy any fabric as truly I do not need any right now but also had there have
been some different paisley or tiny print that was vastly different to what I already have then I would have indulged but I did not see any so I did not buy any.

What I did get was a basket from Clare of Daisy Darling ... now I do have lots of baskets, shocker!! I can hear you all cry BUT not one with yellow and green stripes , you see it had to be done, plus walking around the VB with a basket for goodies well it just seemed right, I had not brought one with me which is unusual so it was much needed as well.... Well you can see from the picture why it was a must have, can't you!!?

Then from Sue of Vintage to Victorian I had a great little haul.  Sue had a box of French monograms and of course these are getting rarer and rarer really so it had to be done, and a box of stunning
vintage threads in some gorgeous colours so of course they jumped in my basket too.... Then the icing on the cake was a bag of mixed glass beads that I use quite a bit in my work so they had to come
home too..... I was so pleased with it all, when I went back to talk to Sue for a little while I spotted a
hankies case and it was all hand embroidered so I made another purchase and that came home as well.  It is strange when you do go back to a stall that you see something that you had not spotted before, probably it had been under something else and had been rooted to the top.. Lucky me!


Jenny of Tilly-D was there as I told you and I had been looking out for her because she had brought
me in a 1933 quilting book that I bought from her to cover in vintage fabrics and it really is a beauty,
along with that there was a bundle of vintage transfers so they too jumped into my basket to come home.  I have not managed to look at them all
properly yet but I love a vintage transfer ... And according to the lovely Jenny there are some rare ones in there too..... That will be fabulous to sit and look through.









From Emma of Little Wren Vintage I bought some beautiful French  tab top curtains and I am sure they will go somewhere in a new/very old house we do not have yet or indeed for the price I paid I can of course cut them up for cushion covers too.   Also there was a stone bucket with a lid and we bought that as a bin for our bathroom (bit different) it has a wood handle that come off to wash it all and Emma said she has one and puts it through her dishwasher

to keep it beautiful.  I can line it with a liner but every few weeks put it through the dishwasher to cleanse it....  Then there was a very old mustard pot still with a label on the lid ... well it needed a good home on a dresser and I had a little space that was mustard pot size!!

Then I bought from a lady ( who's card I have totally lost! - how? do not know) but she had some lovely old books on her stall and one was about butterflies so I purchased that along with another about art and the masters .... It was a school prize originally and so these came home with me as well.

The very last thing that I bought was some tiny little spools of thread for embroidery and I have to tell you I had them all for £3 and they are really lovely subtle colours and will get used very soon.  I

thought they had the most gorgeous hue's and of course they were little and I love tiny things ( why?, do not know, just do!)

Well that was my plunder and I feel I was some what restrained but in truth I did not need much really.. I am always on the look out for beautiful carved mother of pearl buttons and paisley but I did not see any so I really just had a great look round and bought a few little bits and caught up with friends ... all in all a fabulous day and great fun.
