Flowers are the sweetest things God
ever made and forgot to put a soul into!

Monday and another week begins. It seems that this year is doubling its pace and running away with its self and where are our months going. We are in August now and all too soon it will be Autumn
again. Do not get me wrong Autumn is my most favourite time of year it has to be said with the changing leaf colours and that crunch as you walk along. A slight wind and the leaves swirl about, it is almost magical but I do not want Summer to end just yet.

I am not ready to start being back inside and of course I am impatient to find a house and move! I have a slight added problem that my darling mum is a bit unwell and undergoing tests so I have taken the decision at this moment in time to reduce the blog by another day. At the moment I do five days a week and I am going to do it four days instead. I just have to decided which day to drop off but I think it will be a Saturday ... Then it will be Mon & Tue and then Thur & Fri for a while. My mum needs me and my sister more and more at the moment and so I will let you know how it goes. I am not sure when it will start but will give you the heads up ..
Stitching away I have been embroidering tiny flowers more and more lately and I have been enjoyed pressing some for me to keep to look at over the months. I have picked some lavender and hung it on my old clothes airier in the kitchen so that I can still smell it and of course see it. When it drys out and has to be cut back I tend to strip it all off and put it in bowls in my sewing room. I have so many
lavender bushes in the garden that it sad when their time has passed and they have to be taken back hard for their winters sleep.

You will be pleased to know that my whale picture is coming along and I am enjoying every moment of it right now. I think I have favoured it more than the butterfly one because looking at them I am picking up that one more. It has been therapeutic to stitch and I can almost hear the whale song and feel the spray of the sea as I stitch.
I have some magazine work to start as well and that is a .... gosh you will all be shouting at the screen but yes Christmas one! I know I know but in magazine world they have to be done months in advance and of course they all come out a month in advance too so it does not help matters. The thing is I have to get my head around the fact that it is coming Autumn let alone Winter!! I will have to get my design book out and see what is in it or get sketching and stitching quickly to be in time for the deadline! Christmas! oh dear well I will just have to find some HO HO HO! I do have some ideas in my design journal so I will look and see if anything is appropriate for what they have in mind,
I was going to put a Christmas picture on here but thought I might get mobbed! .. grin!
So I am away to my stitching today and you will be pleased to know it is still the whale and butterfly one .. Summer! but by the end of the week I will have to switch for a while ..
Have a wonderful day whatever you are doing and as always Happy Stitching! XX

Thank you Julie xxx
DeleteSorry to hear about your mum, hope she is feeling better soon. I love the Autumn too and can't help thinking about all the lovely knits I'd wear if I was a couple or 3 stone lighter! I can't be thinking of Christmas just yet, even though I work next door to an all-year-round Christmas shop (Jingle Bells of Shanklin). I suppose I have become bit blasé about it. We have given up the move idea, having not found anywhere nicer to live, and are just about to redecorate the lounge and have a new fireplace. Our next Jayne's Vintage & Retro Fayre is on 21 Aug at Whippingham Community Centre, if you fancy another break from the hubbub of the mainland. You will be very welcome xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your kind words.
DeleteYes lots going on here still looking for a house that we want as our forever home but it is there, we just have to find it...
Sounds lovely with the decorating and things that are going on, how exciting for you.
I am afraid I do not think we can make the 21st but we will see,, I am in the Cotswold on the Saturday and think Sunday as well will be a bit much but we will see, would love to see you all again so fingers crossed.
Take care
Sarah. xx
Hi Sarah, I know you are going through difficult times with your mum and family always come first. Everyone will miss your lovely blog posts but it has to be done. I'm really looking forward to seeing your whale project.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Christmas, it's hard to think of it now but the beauty of winter is easier to contemplate. Love Dawn xxx
