All my scattering moments are taken up
with my needle....

When I am designing a new project then my focus is purely on what I am trying to achieve and thinking about what colour palettes would work with my design.
Hand embroidery is a soothing art form and when you are doing a repeat stitch you can afford your self time to let your mind wander through the mists of time in your head. It is such a calming and wonderful art, no wonder that 100 years ago that ladies sat happy in there craft (if you were fortunate enough to be born in the upper classes that is) I enjoy my work thoroughly and I am so very happy hand stitching away and looking at the garden or the rain tapping at the window as it has been lately. It affords me time to think and really does not seem like work at all. I would hate now to go back to the bustle of an office...
The other thing that I find calming in my work is stitching buttons onto cards to sell. Choosing what ones to stitch on to what card and watching the pile grow happily... Again you can drift away and think. Some of my best designs have come to me in a dream like state!.... wonderful.
I am very happy in my work and I am thankful that is what I do for a living...
So whilst doing some hand embroidery yesterday I had another idea you see and have jotted it down on a piece of paper. I am going to set to in a moment and design it properly and then go through my vintage fabric drawer for colour palette ideas... It is like giving a kitten cat nip!!
So whilst I put to good use my scattering moments, I wish you all a very Happy Stitch Day!
