Bath - A city so beautiful and stunning.
With so much history and a connection
to Jane Austen.
When you find this shop in Broad Street you just stare at the shop window! It really is a breath taker on every level. Then when you walk in and are greeted by the lady herself and her lovely husband then you feel somehow you are in such a familiar place and surrounded with an air of tranquillity and warmth.
Susannah told me that she started on the antique
love affair in business around 35 years ago and she has only been at this current shop location for
around 15 years! so why dear readers have I not been here before ... Never again will I go to Bath and
not visit this amazing shop.
Not only is there really eye popping antiques but there are fabric inspiration packs as well as Cushions, lavender bags, little carry bags and hanging heart with antique crystals and beads hanging off of them that Susannah herself makes upstairs in the shop in her work rooms. She has been a collector of fabrics and buttons and beads, trims and lace for several decades so she can pick and choose just the right fabrics to combine together to make her gorgeous stock.
I was in actual heaven mooching around and having permission to take photos for you all to share
some of this wonderful experience with me. They go to Paris to buy fairly frequently Susannah's
husband told me, and you can see as soon as you dribble over the front window the French connection. There is furniture in there to buy too but you have to be quick lots of people from abroad come and buy it up.
The cushions and little home furnishings that Susannah designs and makes are so beautifully crafted and you know immediately she has an eye for detail and colours. I could have just stayed there and popped up a hammock over night just to be surrounded by the atmosphere and beauty for longer.
I bought a gorgeous inspiration pack from the shop and also
Susannah gave me some of her business postcards with her details on and some great photos of her family members too including her Grandmother as a young woman. I have also been told that we can make a date for me to see her workrooms some time, which I gratefully jumped at and will make a date later this year and go and see this wonderful lady again. There is a air of elegance and beauty about her and she is also very interesting to talk to about antiques and fabrics, I could have been there happily talking and soaking up this ladies knowledge and expertise.
I would like to thank Susannah for making me so very welcome and allowing to take photos and I hope that you have all enjoyed a look. If you are ever in Bath I highly recommend this stunning shop and the address is 25 Broad Street, Bath, BA1 5LW.
Have a wonderful day and as always Happy Stitching!
Oooh I absolutely love Bath. There is a circle of trees near the Circus and everytime I pass them I often wonder if they were there in Jane Austen's time and what a story they could tell.
