Vintage embroidery books .... on my list for the two August fairs I am attending.

As I am busily working through my list ( which seems to grow rather than deplete ) I am cheered on that this month I am attending two vintage fairs and I have another list going, things to look out for on my two days of hunting.

The first fair that I am going to is The Cotswolds Vintage Fair on Saturday 22nd August, its at Toddington Village Hall, Stow Road, Toddington Glos, GL54 5DU..... I first went to this fair last year and it was beautiful.  There was some great talents there who make from vintage and there was some great names of the selling fabrics and vintage goodies as well. It starts at 10am and goes on until 4pm ( for anyone who does not have it in their diary already)

The second fair that I am going to is the Love Lane Vintage Fair - Vintage on the Green.  This is on the 29th August and is from 10 -4pm as well.  The Green, Wisborough Green, West Sussex, RH14 OBN   The last Love Lane Vintage Fair I went to was superb so I do not want to miss this one!

Anyway on my list of 'to look out for' apart from fabrics (obviously) is antique embroidery books, I have several in my collection but would really like some more so that they can all sit on a shelf

together huddled happily for me to get to when ever they are needed...... I say needed because I read a embroidery book like others read novels!!  I do read novels ladies and gents but sometimes a 15 minute thumb through of one of these lovelies is just good for the soul!

Also I am looking for some antique papers as well as my stock is getting a little low.  I am doing some mixed media work and would like to get some more beautiful old bits of papers, envelopes and envelopes to work with.....  I adore the old handwriting on them.

Always on my list is to look out for any beautiful and unusual carved mother of pearl buttons ( they are a particular weakness of mine) and as you all know by now there is always at least one button on each piece of work that I stitch ..... so they are always needed and used.

Paisleys are the high order of my search too, personally you can never have enough of this beautiful fabric and some of the exhibitors at these fairs know me of old and if they have some will bring it along because it will normally come home with me if I have not got that one or indeed not a lot of that particular colour and pattern.  Paisleys all have slighly different patterns but the one thing in common they all have is the boteh or buta  which is the droplet shaped motif.  I had this discussion with Liz of Washerwoman fame and she told me the name of it and since then I have tried to find out lots about paisley.... so watch this space for a write up on it this week some time.

So whilst stitching today I am also thinking about the up and coming two fairs and what I will be looking for when I get there.
