Vintage mother of pearl buttons
my one weakness! (tee hee!)
I wanted to show you all my purchase from Ebay ... It arrived on Friday last week via the post and I am over the moon with it.
When I saw it and the buy in now price I watched it for a day or two and then thought actually I would really like this rare piece of history. Firstly I thought I will cut off the buttons and use these
I look at these beautiful buttons and think what I could do with them and them I look at them and feel a duty to preserve as they are now ..... arrrggggh what to do? anyone out there reading this, help me with your thoughts pleaaaasssse!
As you can see from the picture on the right they are beautiful and stitched in place on this card. The picture does not do them justice believe me!
I was thinking about stitching them on a sampler as leaves on a tree with all those colours and it would look so lovely but do I really split this history apart...
Oh well I will have to decide and as I say I would be grateful of any thoughts you all have please!
Have a wonderful day and as always Happy Stitching!
I Would frame them!
ReplyDeleteI have lots of mother of pearl buttons that belonged to my grandmother. When she was a little girl (born 1904) she used to collect them for Henry Croft (the creator of the Pearly Kings and Queens of London), she new him as a child.

I'd frame them too!!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't bear to cut them from the card - you could always buy some more - loose ones!!
Thank you ladies ...I know it is the right thing to do. These are rare and should stay together, although I bought them to cut from card for a project.
ReplyDeleteThat is settled they stay as a whole. I probably would not have slept if I had cut them off the card anyway! xx
