Stitch of the week is Drizzle Stitch ... by Mary Corbet

here’s your sweet lavender
sixteen sprigs a penny
that you’ll find my ladies
will smell as sweet as any"

Lavender Sellers’s Cry, London England CA 1900

This is a great little stitch and very very versatile indeed.  It makes great lavender flowers too and I have been practising doing bumble bees with it so that they kind of jump off of the linen...

I have shown this stitch before a long time ago but was asked about this the other day so here we are.  Also having played around with this stitch myself now, it really is one that should be mastered because it is great to create with.

This is a photo off of Google to show you embroidered lavender and you can then see how you could use drizzle stitch to this effect.  I can not accredit the person who stitched this as I could not seem to find a name to this photo! needless to say it is not my stitching.....

You can embroider lavender with little french knots too but the drizzle stitch really does look very good when the lavender is up close.

This stitch is worth the master so make a warm drink and enjoy walking through this great tutorial with Mary Corbet ....

I am in Devon a a great friends cottage and I have my sketch book with me.  With all the wonderful wildlife and flowers along the hedgerows I should get lots of inspiration and my design book should come back with some new projects for me to stitch.  Have a great long weekend..... fingers crossed for the weather so I can wander around the hedgerows...

Have a great day and Happy Stitching!

P.S ... This Sunday on here there is a little treat from Mary Corbet, be sure to log on and have a look tomorrow........
